MIRA takes legal action against 5 companies

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has revealed that legal action have been taken against 5 companies for not abiding the Goods and Services (GST) Act. The companies owe over USD74,000 to the tax administration body, as per information provided by MIRA.

Maldivian courts have passed judgments on several companies to pay a total of USD2.9 million as tax in 2017, according to the authority. MIRA collects about 80 percent of the total revenue earned by the government and takes strict actions against individuals and companies that does not abide with the tax laws.
