MNDF sends draft of Military Justice Bill to AG Office

Ministry of Defense and National Security has revealed that a Military Justice Bill has been drafted and sent to the Attorney General's Office for approval.

According to the Defense Ministry, the bill aims to provide fair and transparent judgment for offences committed by soldiers. In addition, the bill aims to establish and execute exclusive investigative procedures and a specific Military Court.  

Addressing the 83rd anniversary function of Maldives Police Service, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom had revealed plans to establish a military court to court-martial military officials. 

The Military Justice Bill has been drafted as part of the current administration's Legislative Agenda announced in 2014, which consists of a total of 207 bills to strengthen the Maldivian Constitution. I

n addition to the Military Justice Bill, the Ministry has also drafted a National Safety and Security Bill and a National Service Bill.
