Maldives to take part in a large amount of travel fairs

Organizations that promote the Maldivian Tourism Industry has revealed plans to participate in a record breaking number of travel fairs and exhibitions in the year 2018.

The tourism industry, which is the main source of income to the nation, has witnessed a major boost in the administration of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. As per organizations working in promoting Maldivian tourism, they have planned to take part in over 40 travel-trade shows, exhibitions and fairs this year to expand the scope of Maldivian tourism in international fora.

While Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Cooperation (MMPRC) is expected to take part in 15 fairs Maldives Association for Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) and Association of Travel Agents (ATA) is also expected to take part in 15 fairs. The Ministry of Tourism is also expected to represent Maldives as a travel destination, at various travel fairs.

Tourist arrivals to Maldives in 2017 stood at a record-breaking 1.3 million which is an increase of about 7 percent, year- on- year.
