Foreign relations have enhanced in past few years

Ambassador of Maldives to Sri Lanka, Mohamed Hussain Shareef has stated that foreign relations have enhanced in the last few years since President Yameen assumed office. Speaking at a gathering held by Progressive Party of Maldives, Ambassador Hussain Shareef highlighted on the enhanced foreign relations of Maldives.

Noting that President Yameen changed the perception of the world towards Maldives, Ambassador affirmed that every country believes that there are various investment opportunities in Maldives. The recent trip of the Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono stands to prove it, added the Ambassador.

The Ambassador said that many countries support the foreign policy of Maldives and as a result, Maldives has established strong relations with economically stable countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, China, and Japan. Talking about the services available to Maldivians residing in other countries, Ambassador Hussain Shareef mentioned that the Maldivian population of more than 30,000 living in Sri Lanka believes that President Yameen has prioritised providing services to them.
