Education Minister states the sector is all set for new year

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shihaam has stated that all educational institutes in Maldives are now set to begin the new academic year. At a press gathering held to brief media on preparations by the Ministry of Education for the academic year, Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shihaam stated that education is one of the prime focuses of the administration of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

In this regard Minister Dr. Aishath Shihaam stated that the current administration has been exerting major efforts to tackle the challenges the sector faces, and stated that the administration has paved way for some key developments in this sector. On this note, Dr. Aishath Shihaam highlighted that the approaching academic year is expected to be one of the most successful years. She also shed light on the successful initiatives of the current administration such as the "No child left behind" policy.

The minister added that this year would see the implementation of Key Stage 3 for eight graders. She also noted that 2018 would be key, in the implementation of the project of digitalization of the education sector. She reiterated that all educational institutes in Maldives are fully equipped with all necessary resources to begin the new academic year.

All texts books required for the new academic year have been delivered to the students, as per information provided by the Ministry of Education, Over the past four years, under the administration of President Yameen, the administration has successfully completed the construction and renovation of over 800 educational institutes, statistics reveal. The academic year would begin on the January 14, 2018.
