Tertiary Hospital at Addu City to be inaugurated this year

Minster of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has revealed that the Tertiary Hospital being developed in Addu city is expected to completed and officially inaugurated this year.

In an exclusive interview with PSM News, Minster Nazim revealed that the construction phase of the hospital is expected to be completed within the first quarter of this year.

Providing quality healthcare to all parts of the nation being one of the electoral pledges of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom the current administration has been carrying out key healthcare development projects across the nation.One such developmental project is the project to develop a Tertiary Hospital in Addu city.  

Addu City Tertiary Hospital, which is expected to cost approximately USD 21 million  has been contracted to Alia Construction Private Limited. On completion, the newly developed hospital will have a bed capacity of 100.

The hospital will be equipped with resources required to cope with the major problems in the health sector of the region. The hospital, which is developed where Equatorial Convention Centre previously stood, has seen renovations and alterations in order to provide optimum services to the residents of Addu City.

In an exclusive interview with PSM News Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim stated that the construction work at the hospital is progressing as per the given schedule. The Minister revealed that the construction phase of the hospital is expected to be completed within the first quarter of this year. He said, work is underway, on furnishing the hospital with the latest equipment.

The Health Minister stated that the development of Addu city hospital had been an unsuccessful project for the previous administrations and stated that the current administration has broken this norm and has become successful in progressing in providing healthcare faculties not only at Addu city but for the whole nation.
