Medical school to equip teachers in the coming 2 months

Ministry of Health has revealed that efforts to equip teachers for the National Medical School would commence within next two months.

Providing quality healthcare to all parts of the nation is one of the electoral pledges of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. To achieve the pledge, President Yameen has been carrying out key developmental projects in the sector. One such project is the development of the first ever Medical School in Maldives, which would be established in the newly developed Dharumavantha Hospital.

In an exclusive interview with PSM News, Minister of State for Health Dhunya Maumoon stated that the efforts to establish the National Medical School is progressing at a fast pace and revealed the aim to inaugurate the institute within this calender year. The State Minister further said the  National Medical School would be established with an aim to train experts in the medical field. She added that 2-storeys of the 25-storey Dharumavantha Hospital would be designated for the Medical School, which is being established with the support of the Government of Pakistan.

State Minister Dhunya revealed that the administration is in contact with countries such as India and United Kingdom to further enhance the new institution. She concluded by saying that the administration aims to make the National Medical School amongst the top notch medical institutions in region.
