Fisheries Minister departs to 3 counties of Africa

Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Dr. Mohamed Shainee has departed to three countries of Africa as the Special Envoy of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Fisheries Minister Mohamed Shainee will visit South Africa, Tanzania and Mozambique as part of the campaign to secure a seat for the Maldives at the United Nation's Security Council.

The Maldivian Fisheries Minister is expected to call on the foreign ministers of the three African nations and would discuss on the importance of small island nations representing in the United Nation Security Council. During the meetings discussions would be held to seek support for the recommendations Maldives has proposed for the fishing guidelines for the countries fishing in the Indian Ocean, as per information provided Ministry of the Fisheries and Agriculture.
