Income received by MIRA grosses to USD 986.3 million

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has revealed that the total state income received from various taxation procedures in 2017 grosses to about USD 986.3 million.

The authority pays high regard in developing and expanding the quality of services provided, Assistant Commissioner General, Revenue Service, of Maldives Inland Revenue Authority Ahmed Shareef said speaking on the achievements of 2017. In this regard, Assistant Commissioner General said that MIRA has collected about USD 986.3 million as the total income of the state in 2017. Ahmed Shareef noted that the amount is a hike of about 4.2% than the estimated amount for 2017.

Shedding light on the achievements attained by the authority in 2017, Ahmed Shareef highlighted that MIRA has achieved key milestones in the technological aspects such as the launch of an online portal and a mobile application. He added that the developments are a major boost for the efforts of MIRA to provide easy and high quality services.

Currently MIRA boasts technologically advanced services such as E-Registration, E-filling and E-payment. MIRA established on 18th of March 2010 under the Tax Administration Act is a separate and independent legal entity responsible for a modern tax system in Maldives. The main responsibilities of MIRA include execution of tax laws, implementation of tax policies and providing technical advice to the government in determining tax policies.
