Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has confirmed that no act of corruption was involved in the process of hiring China's Dongfeng Electric International Corporation for the installation of a high voltage electricity system between Male' and Hulhumale'.
The high voltage electricity system between Male' and Hulhumale' which would be connected via the China Maldives Friendship bridge was halted for the reviewing process of ACC. The Commission had reviewed the documents of the project and concluded it met all the criteria of a legitimate transaction, according to State Electric Company's (STELCO).
Initiated by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, the 5th Power Development Project is the largest power project implemented in the Maldives.
