Minister of Defence and National Security Adam Shareef Umar has assured that actions would be taken against parties which try to undermine and threaten the lawfully elected Government of Maldives.
In an exclusive interview with PSM News regarding the statements made by some opposition members suggesting that the Maldivian Government will be deposed before the election this year, Defence Minister Shareef stated that no individual or party must try to cause the downfall of an elected government before the end of its term.
The Defence Minister affirmed the Maldivian Government would halt such unlawful acts. The security forces and the majority of Maldivians will not allow any condition to arise which will diminish the sovereignty and the independence of the state, added the Minister.
