President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has conveyed greetings and good wishes on the occasion of the 69th Republic Day of India.
President Yameen expressed profound wishes to work closely with the Government of India, to reinvigorate and maintain the existing ties between the Maldives and India, founded on friendship, understanding and harmony, for the common progress and prosperity of both countries and peoples, in his message to President Ram Nath Kovind.
President Yameen reaffirmed the continued firm commitment of Maldives to engage with India to realise mutual gains for the two countries and peoples through diplomacy, reciprocity and respect in his message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The President further highlighted on enhancing collaboration between the Maldives and India to ensure peace and stability in the South Asia region.
The Republic Day of India commemorates the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on January 26, 1950.
