Foreign Minister holds consultations with African counterparts

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim has held bilateral consultations with his counterparts of three African countries.

Foreign Minister arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to attend the Opening Ceremony of the 30th Summit of the African Union. During the visit to Addis Ababa, Minister will hold bilateral consultations with his counterparts from African countries, on the sidelines of the African Union Summit.

Upon arrival to Ethiopia, Maldivian Foreign Minister was welcomed by State Minister at the Ethiopian Foreign Affairs Dr. Aklilu Hailemichael and Minister of Government Communication Affairs Dr. Negeri Lencho.

On the sidelines of the 30th Summit of the African Union Foreign Minister Asim met the Foreign Minister of Tunisia Khemaies Jhinaoui and discussed ways to strengthen future cooperation in areas of mutual interest and cooperation in multilateral fora, including at the United Nations.

Foreign Minister Asim also met the Foreign Minister of Libya Mohamed Taha Siala and discussed bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as education and cooperation in multilateral fora, including at the United Nations.

Moreover, Minister met the Foreign Minister of Malawi Emmanuel Fabiano, exchange views on further strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in the context of addressing similar development challenges faced by small countries.
