President establishes Maldivian Embassy in Thailand

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has established a Maldivian Embassy in Thailand, effective on January 30, 2018. 

The Embassy was established via the powers vested in the President under Article 116 of the Constitution,

The Embassy will be administered under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was established in an effort to increase the Maldives' presence in the international arena, as part of the Maldives' foreign policy; to further enhance ties between the Maldives and Thailand and to open more investment and business related opportunities in both countries.
