Refrain from intervening in political situation of Maldives

China has called on all foreign nations to refrain from intervening into the internal political situation of Maldives.

Briefing the media on the stance of China on the political situation in Maldives, Spokesman of Chinese Foreign Ministry cited that China has been closely following the situation in Maldives and expressed that China hopes various political parties of the Maldives will properly resolve differences through dialogue and negotiation.

The Chinese Spokesman emphasised the importance of resuming the normal order in the nation as soon as possible and called Maldives to maintain national and social stability. Geng Shuang said China believes that the Maldivian government, political parties and people have the wisdom and capabilities to cope with the current situation independently.

Spokesman concluded by stating that China has asked the Maldives to continue to take effective measures to faithfully guarantee the security of Chinese personnel, institutions and cooperative projects in the Maldives.
