Regional Airports Authority has contracted the development of the runway of Kulhudhuffushi Airport to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
Under the agreement, MTCC will develop a 1.2 kilometre runway, a taxi way and an apron at Kulhudhuffushi Airport. The USD 383,000 project should be completed within a period of 5 months and 10 days, according to the agreement.
Director General of Regional Airports Authority Saamee Ageel said the development of airport terminal, tower and other related buildings will be contracted within the next week. Previously, MTCC has reclaimed the land for the development of the airport project.
The Maldivian Government aims to complete and operate the Kulhudhuffushi Airport before the end of August 2018.
