Auditor General of Maldives Hassan Ziyath has called on all authorities to use the audit report efficiently to be answerable to financial reports.
At the ceremony held to release the Auditor General's Southern Regional Audit Report of 2017, Auditor General of Maldives Hassan Ziyath urged to work towards anti-corruption and minimise waste to restore the trust and faith of citizens in authorities.
After releasing the Auditor General's Southern Regional Audit Report of 2017, Assistant Auditor General Hassan Niyaz said audits targeted to be completed by 2017 were achieved by a 90 percent margin. In this regard, Niyaz revealed the Southern Regional Office aimed to complete 74 audit reports while filing of 66 companies were completed in 2017.
The authorities in the southern region have been notified of over USD 2 million unpaid to the state, over USD 265,000 to be deposited to public bank accounts and over USD 310,000 granted to individuals disregarding rules and regulations, according to the Audit Report.
The Southern Region Audit Office was established in 2015.
