Government of Maldives has commences the project to establish a water supply facility in Hoarafushi island of Haa Alifu atoll. The project to establish a water supply facility in Hoarafushi island in Haa Alifu atoll was inaugurated by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Thoriq Ibrahim.
The project was awarded to Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) in June last year. Funded by Opec Fund for International Development (OFID) and Government of Maldives, the project is worth, over USD 3,000,000.
Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony Managing Director of MWSC, Fazul Rasheed stated that the project will be concluded within 8 months. MWSC is currently implementing various government projects and assured that the projects are progressing according to schedule, he highlighted.
This project includes the construction of 2 reverse osmosis plants capable of producing 8tonnes of water per hour and a freshwater network of 19 kilometres.
