Islamic ministry to commence anti-terrorism seminar on Saturday

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has revealed that a special seminar on "High Level Seminar on Role of Moderation in Counter Terrorism" will be begin on Saturday in Kurumba Maldives.
The special seminar which would have a religious approach in delivering right and authentic information is conducted by the collaborative efforts of Ministry of Islamic Affairs, National Counter Terrorism Centre, Maldives National Defence Force, Maldives Police Service, Public Service Media (PSM) and Jordan's International Moderation Forum.
The two-day seminar, which will conclude on Sunday at Kurumba Maldives, would highlight issues such as religious ethics in delivering information, the negative end effects of delivering incorrect information, Minister of Islamic Affair Dr. Ahmed Ziyad revealed in a press briefing. Minister Ziyad added papers would be prepared in both Arabic and English on topics such as causes and solutions of discord between countries.
Continuing on, Minister Ziyad expressed elatedness of Maldives being the host of such an international seminar and thanked President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom for the keen interest he pays to uphold true Islamic values in the country. Minister Ziyad highlighted the seminar would bring Maldives to the forefront of Islamic countries. The Maldivian Islamic Minister further noted 35 representatives from 15 Muslim countries from around the world would participate in the seminar.
The seminar would see the participation of 16 Maldivians and representatives from Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Arab League and Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO). In addition, representatives from international institutions such as Association of Arab Universities, International Research Centre, Al-Azhar University, Pakistan International University and Malaysia International University.
