Maldives to observe Malaysian general election on May 9

Maldives has accepted invitation to observe the general election in Malaysia to be held next month.
The delegation of observers from Maldives includes the President of Elections Commission Ahmed Shareef and Member of Elections Commission Ahmed Akram, according to Elections Commission of Maldives. The Commission revealed the Maldivian delegation will depart to Malaysia on May 7.
Malaysian news websites reported 7 countries including Maldives have so far agreed to send representatives to observe the 14th general election. Other countries which accepted the invitation were Indonesia, Thailand, Timor Leste, Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.
Malaysia has invited a total of 13 countries to observe the general election in Malaysia. The general election of Malaysia will be held on May 9, with 14.9 million registered voters expected to cast ballots.
