Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed has highlighted that China is one of the most trusted and reliable development partners of Maldives.
Addressing the One Belt and One Road Symposium, Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed stated initiatives such as One Belt and One Road initiative would have positive end effects on small economies such as Maldives.
In this regard, Economic Minister Saeed noted over 1.3 trillion tonnes of oil is transported via two routes crossing Maldives. Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador of China to Maldives Zhang Lizhong said Maldives has a time tested strong relationship with China.
In this regard, the Chinese Ambassador expressed regret about the misleading and incorrect information circulated on the relationship both countries share. Ambassador Zhang Lizhong reiterated the commitment of China in assisting Maldives in its development.
The One Belt and One Road Symposium held in Maldives was aimed to disseminate information about the relationship between Maldives and China, to Maldivian students.
