Gender Minister visits sick and elderly people of Mahibadhoo

Minister of Gender and Family Zenysha Shaheed Zaki has visited the sick and the elderly of Mahibadhoo Island of Alifu Dhaalu atoll.

As part of her ongoing trip to the atoll, Gender Minister Zenysha interacted with the citizens and enquired about the difficulties they face in living in the rural community. In addition, Minister Zenysha also met with key figures of Alifu Dhaalu Atoll Hospital and enquired about the public health situation in the island and urged special and sensitive attention to the elderly and people with disabilities.

Furthermore, Minister Zenysha also met with the members of the island council and shared information on the efforts of the government in stopping violence against children and called on the members to collaborate with the efforts of the government in eliminating such atrocities. Minister Zenysha also enquired about the concerns of the island council members.

Moreover, Minister Zenysha met with the organisiations working for the empowerment of women in the island society and enquired about the activities planned for the year.

Minister Zenysha also met with officers of Maldives Police Service stationed at the regional police stationed in the island. In the meeting, the Minister urged to extend its efforts in investigating cases of violence against children and domestic violence.

In an exclusive interview with PSM News, Minister Zenysha noted providing easy and comfortable lives for all citizens is the main aim of the administration under its all-inclusive policy. She revealed, through such visits to the atolls, the government aims to understand challenges faced by communities.
