MTCC to re-develop outer sea wall of eastern waterfront in Male' city

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to re-develop the outer seawall on the eastern waterfront of Male' city. The agreement of the project was signed by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Chief Executive Officer of MTCC Ibrahim Ziyath.
The government decided to re-develop the outer seawall on the eastern waterfront to minimise the effects of tidal waves in the area, the Housing Minister said speaking at the ceremony. Noting that King Salman Mosque would be constructed in the eastern waterfront, the Housing Minister said the project would protect and secure the area from the seasonal tidal waves.
A pump system to drain water in case of flooding would be established in the area, as part of the project, according to Minister Muizzu. Furthermore, the Minister said protecting areas where mega projects take place would enhance the foreign investor trust in Maldives.
Under the project, 430 metres of the outer sea wall would be re-developed at a cost of USD 3 million.
