MNDF celebrates 126th anniversary

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has conducted special activities to mark its 126th anniversary.

The day began with a flag hoisting ceremony at Kalhuthuhkalaa Koshi which was officiated by the Minister of Defence and National Security, Adam Shareef Umar. Addressing the ceremony, Minister Adam Shareef Umar stated that, last year was one of the most successful years in the history of the institution. In this regard, the Defence Minister noted, last year, the officers of MNDF showcased exemplary discipline, leadership and cooperation. The Maldivian Defence Minister applauded the services provided by the officers especially on February 1, and acknowledged the officers for playing a huge role to end efforts by the opposition to topple the lawfully elected government.

The flag hoisting ceremony was attended by the Chief of Defence Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam, senior officials of MNDF and a large number of soldiers.

Public Service Media (PSM), in collaboration with MNDF, has also organized special activities to mark the event, such as a continuity show and special programmes on all of the company’s media platforms.
