Elections Commission to form National Advisory Committee

Elections Commission of Maldives has invited political parties and political institutions to collaborate and form a National Advisory Committee.
The Elections Commission has the authority to form a National Advisory Committee under the presidential election regulations. The committee should consist of political parties with presidential candidates, representatives on behalf of independent candidates, Human Rights Commission, Maldives Police Service, Maldives Media Council, Maldives Broadcasting Commission and representatives from non-governmental organisations selected by the Elections Commission.
The invitation has been extended to the relevant institutions and political parties to form the National Advisory Committee, revealed Elections Commission. Political parties with no candidates running for presidency can later join the committee, under the presidential elections regulation.
The Elections Commission has increased its efforts to hold a free and fair Presidential Election in September and has also invited international observers to monitor the preparations and voting process.
