Foreign Minister meets with the League of Arab States

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Asim has met the Permanent Representatives of the League of Arab States, with a view to facilitate greater dialogue and cooperation with the countries of League.
The Foreign Minister highlighted the historic links between the Maldives and the Arab region, and priorities in the international arena. The importance of reflecting key values and Islam and the views of Islamic countries, in key decision making bodies of the United Nations, including the Security Council, noted the Minister during the meeting. Meanwhile. Permanent Representatives thanked the Minister for participating in the discussion and sharing priorities and ideas of Maldives moving forward.
The Maldivian Minister is visiting New York to participate in the High Level Meeting on Peace Building and Sustaining Peace hosted by the President of the General Assembly, as well as the Ministerial segment of the Economic and Social Commission's Forum on Financing for Development.
