Maldives host Third Ambassadorial Workshop

The third edition of the Ambassadorial Workshop has commenced in Maldives. Addressing the opening ceremony of the Ambassadorial Workshop, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr.Mohamed Asim stated, although Maldives is a country small in size, Maldives has achieved major developmental milestone in the past few years and highlighted, the Maldives will always aim higher.

Furthermore, Minister Asim expressed hope, the Maldives will receive support and cooperation in its effort to secure a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council for the term 2019-2020. Revealing information regarding the workshop, Permanent Representative of Maldives to United Nations Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed said, the workshop will serve as a platform to gain the support of other countries in securing a seat at UNSC.

In this workshop, the Maldives will share its experiences on the three thematic areas of sustainable fisheries, tourism and environmental conservation. The Maldives will also enlighten participants on the difficult and challenging developmental journey it had taken over the past decades, and on how the Maldives has overcome those challenges and obstacles to be on the present trajectory of progress.

The participants of this workshop, comprising of nine ambassadors representing their countries at the United Nations in New York will attend three interactive dialogue sessions.
