NCTC signs with WEAM to empower women

National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) and Women Entrepreneurs Association of Maldives (WEAM) has signed a memorandum of understanding to facilitate the conducting of programmes in empowering Maldivian women. The agreement was signed by Director General of NCTC Brigadier General Zakariyya Mansoor and Chairperson of WEAM Shaira Saleem.
Joint programmes to empower women in Maldives will be conducted under the memorandum, Spokesperson of MNDF Captain Ibrahim Azim said speaking to PSM News.
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom established NCTC in 2016 to combat the growing threat of radicalisation and extremism in the Maldives. The NCTC has been mandated to act as the national focal point on all counter-terrorism and anti-terrorism efforts. The centre will formulate counter-terrorism and anti-terrorism guidelines and procedures based on the analysis of international benchmarks and best practices.
WEAM is a registered non-profit organisation established to develop inspiring and innovative business women in the Maldives.
