Chancellor of IUM calls on Saudi Arabian Islamic Minister

Chancellor of Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has paid a courtesy call on Minister of Islamic Affairs of Saudi Arabia Salih bin Abdul Aziz aal Shaikh.
Discussions were held on the developments of IUM, during the meeting. In this regard, Chancellor Dr. Mohamed Shaheem mentioned that IUM was established by the President of Maldives Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom, with the prospective aim to widen the scope of Islamic education provided in the Maldives.
Furthermore, Dr. Shaheem requested the Saudi Islamic Minister to provide assistance to IUM for its future developments and to fulfill its mission to fulfill academic training programmes and research along with dissemination of Islamic knowledge with its applicability in the context of the modern and fast changing world.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian Islamic Minister Salih bin Abdul Aziz aal Shaikh stressed the depth of the bilateral relations and the bridges between the two countries and pointed out the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Saudi Arabia has the competence to establish bridges with all Islamic universities in Asia, Africa, Europe and America, as well as Islamic chairs and chairs of Arabic. Salih bin Abdul Aziz aal Shaikh expressed hope for further cooperation between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia in various fields and between the Ministry and the University, especially in relation to work and Islamic education.
The Chancellor expressed his gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz aal Saud and Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman Abdul Aziz aal Saud for the close cooperation with the Maldives and its people. He also appreciated the Minister for the invitation and the hospitality granted during his visit to Saudi Arabia.
