30th session of UPR begins with participation of Maldives

The 30th session of Universal Periodic Review has begun with the participation of Maldives.
During the first day of the session, Maldives congratulated Turkmenistan on the adoption of the State Guarantees of Equal Rights on Women Act and recommended to continue its efforts together with United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in protecting the rights of children and juveniles.
Moreover, the Maldivian delegation noted it is encouraged by the legislative and constitutional measures taken to protect and promote the rights of women by Burkina Faso and recommended to ensure the enforcement of existing laws relating to child trafficking and child labour.
In constructive spirit, Maldives delegation will engage and present recommendations to the 14 countries to be reviewed during the cycle.
