Maldives condemns attacks by Israel on unarmed Palestinians

Maldives has condemned in the strongest terms, the attacks by Israel on unarmed Palestinian civilians protesting the re-location of the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, which has caused loss of many innocent lives and injured many others near Gaza border.
The Maldives considers East Jerusalem as occupied Palestinian territory and is of the view the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the Palestinian lands with pre-1967 borders, co-existing side by side with Israel as the only viable solution to the question of Palestine, in accordance with relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the General Assembly.
Maldives also reiterated its unwavering support to the Government and the people of the State of Palestine in its struggle for independence, sovereignty and freedom against Israel's illegal occupation of Palestinian territories. Maldives expressed support to the efforts undertaken by the Palestinian leadership in pursuit of recognition by the international community and its efforts to seek redress and justice through the international system, in a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
