Maldives concludes first international Quran competition held in the country

Abdulla Mohamed Kathim Mohamed Kathim Al-Khayyat from Kuwait has achieved first place in the first ever international Quran competition held in Maldives.
The certificate and plaque was presented to the first place of the competition by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The first place of the competition was given USD 30,000 as a gift from the state. Second place of the competition was the participant from Turkey, Karaca Hamit Avsar, while the third place was won by the participant representing Maldives, Ashraq Nazir. The state presented USD 15,000 and USD 5,000 to second and third place respectively. During the ceremony, certificate of appreciation were presented to the judges and all participants of the competition.
Al-Nour Al Mubin Quran Competition is a collaboration of the Centre for the Holy Quran, Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Public Service Media. The competition was held under the patronage of President Yameen. Along with Maldives, Sudan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Malaysia, Kuwait, Egypt and Bangladesh participated in the competition. Judges at the competition were from five different countries; Sudan, Pakistan, Malaysia, Yemen and Maldives.
