Environment Minister meets Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan

Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim has met the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rasit Meredov on his visit to Turkmenistan to discuss ways to improve bilateral ties and to enhance cooperation at the United Nations.
Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim, who is visiting Turkmenistan as a special envoy of the President, met Minister Rasit Meredov and conveyed greetings and well wishes from President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, to the government and the people of Turkmenistan. Minister Thoriq also expressed appreciation for the opportunity and the generous courtesy extended by the government of Turkmenistan to the Minister and his delegation.
Furthermore, both Ministers had a successful discussion to strengthen the close bilateral ties that have existed for over 25 years. The Ministers also exchanged views in intensifying cooperation in economic, environment and social sectors.
Minister Meredov, supported the ideals Maldives presents in the international sphere and highlighted that climate change, sustainable development and counterterrorism are areas for collaboration between the two countries and issues that Turkmenistan also prioritise and actively participates at the United Nations.
