Maldivian Embassy in Malaysia holds Quran competition

The Embassy of Maldives in Malaysia has held a Quran competition. The Maldives Quran Competition was held for Maldivian students living in Malaysia, with 20 students participating in the competition, which was divided into two categories, according to the Embassy.
The first place in the competition was achieved by Fathmath Umna binthi Mohamed, whereas the second place was achieved by Mariyam Imna binthi Mohamed and Mayaan binthi Mohamed Saalih won the third place of the competition. The winners were awarded price money, a medal, a trophy and a certificate of appreciation.
The competition is the first step of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Qayyum to build a cultural centre in Malaysia, Deputy Ambassador Ghaaniya Abdul Ghafoor said speaking at the awarding ceremony. She added a cultural centre in Malaysia would benefit the increasing Maldivian community in Malaysia.
