Elections Commission of the Maldives has revealed the number of ballot boxes used for the upcoming presidential election will increase in comparison to previous presidential elections.
It was decided to increase the number of ballot boxes as the population in various parts of the country and the number of locals residing in foreign countries has increased, according to President of Elections Commission Ahmed Shareef. Noting that similar to previous elections, ballot boxes will be placed in other countries, he added ballot boxes will also be placed in some areas for the first time.
For elections, the electoral body places ballot boxes in all inhabited islands, some resorts, some industrial islands and selected countries.
