Elections Commission of Maldives has announced it will hold the voting of the presidential election on September 23.
In a special ceremony held, the Elections Commission further revealed it will publish the voters list for the presidential election on June 10. Furthermore, opportunity will be opened on July 15 to submit presidential nominations. Interested candidates can submit the presidential nominations before July 27, according to the Elections Commission. The electoral body also said it will announce the eligible candidates on August 9.
Meanwhile, opportunity to observe the election process will be granted to interested national and international parties, the commission said. It will also invite international bodies to observe the election, the commission revealed at the ceremony.
The Elections Commission are currently working on identifying locations to place ballot boxes, which is believed to increase compared to previous presidential election.
