President Yameen conveys Russia Day greetings

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has conveyed greetings to President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and the people of Russia, on the occasion of Russia Day.
In his message, the President reflected on the highly valued long history of amicable relations between the Maldives and Russia. The President affirmed his ardent desire to work closely with President Putin and the Government of Russia on areas of mutual concern to further enhance and consolidate the Maldives-Russia ties of friendship and cooperation.
Noting that the long-standing cordial relations between the Maldives and Russia have been based on mutual respect and good will, the President conveyed his assurances in a separate message to Prime Minister Medvedev, of his commitment to collaborate further on bilateral and international matters of common interest. The President also expressed his hope and confidence that through joint efforts, the Maldives-Russia ties would go from strength to strength in the years ahead.
The President conveyed his best wishes for continued progress and prosperity of the people of Russia in both messages.
Russia Day marks the beginning of constitutional reform in Russia following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, when the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) was adopted on June 12, 1990.
