Japan-Maldives policy dialogue convenes in Tokyo

Japan and Maldives hold the first round of Japan-Maldives Policy Dialogue in Tokyo. Maldives and Japan agreed to launch its first Policy Dialogue in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers in January this year.
The Maldives delegation was headed by Secretary, Bilateral Ahmed Khaleel and Japanese delegation was headed by the Director General at Minister of Foreign Affairs, Takizaki. Secretary Bilateral was accompanied by Ambassador-designate of Maldives to Japan, Ibrahim Uvais, Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Ahmed Fazeel, First Secretary Adam Hamid, and Second Secretary of the Embassy of Maldives in Japan Mohamed Thahseen.
During the consultations, the two countries discussed cooperation in areas of mutual interest including development, climate change, tourism and investment among others. The two countries also exchanged views on the ongoing Japanese government-funded development projects.
