Zakat fund decides to provide healthcare for the unfortunate

Government of Maldives has decided to provide healthcare for the unfortunate from the Zakat Fund. The main objective of the programme is to provide healthcare from the Zakat Fund for the people who are not eligible for Aasandha health insurance and people who are in need of additional funding.
The people who will gain healthcare from Zakat Fund include people who are not able to get the necessary care without being admitted abroad or in Maldives, people who are already admitted abroad and needs additional care, people who are critical and in need of instant medical attention, the people with illnesses that need special care from broad.
The illnesses which healthcare is provided through Zakat Fund include cardiac diseases, cancer, tumor, joint replacement surgery, thyroid, chronic renal failure, eye diseases, bone marrow, and other common sicknesses People who needs medical attention abroad or within Maldives without being admitted will receive not more than USD 1,623 but extra funding would be arranged after referring to the medical condition.
Moreover, funding for special illnesses will be up to USD 3,247 and extra funding will be provided by Ministry of Islamic Affairs, according to Zakat Fund.
