Elections Commission receives 21 complaints regarding voters list

Elections Commission of Maldives has revealed no political party has filed a complaint regarding the provisional voters list. Speaking with PSM News, member of Elections Commission Ahmed Akram stated the electoral body received 21 complaints regarding the list publicised on June 3.
In this regard, the commission member revealed complaints filed were regarding names of deceased people and names of children under age included in the list. Highlighting that Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) held discussions with the electoral body regarding the list, Akram stated no complaints were filed by any political parties.
Moreover, Akram said MDP requested to increase the timeframe allocated to file complaints. The timeframe of filing complaints cannot be increased, despite the request of MDP, revealed the Elections Commission.
The Presidential Election is scheduled to be held on September 23.
