China Maldives Friendship Bridge to be completed on July 9

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated construction works of China Maldives Friendship Bridge will be completed on July 9.
Noting that China Maldives Friendship Bridge is close to being completed, Housing Minister Muizzu revealed joining the last two pillars of the bridge is underway which will link Male' and Hulhumale'. The pillars of the bridge are adjoined by steel box girder beams fabricated and brought from China. 540 meters from the side of Male' has been already joined, with the first pillar joined in the first week of April, according to Housing Ministry.
Moreover, development of roads linking the bridge is also underway. In this regard, 50% of the Ring Road which links Male' to the bridge has been completed. Under the development of the Ring Road, instalment of the sewers, pipes and the development of the pavement has been commenced and the road is ready to be tarred, said the Ministry. Moreover, the highway linking the bridge and Hulhumale' is also under construction.
China Maldives Friendship Bridge is 1.39 kilometres long and 20.3 metres wide and the bridge will be divided into four lanes. While the bridge will be completed on July 9, Housing Minister Muizzu recently visited China to hold discussions regarding the inauguration of the bridge.
