Alia Investments Private Limited, in collaboration with Maldivian Blood Service, has conducted a blood donation camp to mark International Blood Donation Day. The blood donation camp was inaugurated by Minister of State at Ministry of Health Dr. Mohamed Habeeb.
Addressing the function, Dr. Habeeb stated only 33% of donated blood are from regular blood donors in Maldives and noted the main aim of World Health organization (WHO) is to increase the figure to 100% before 2020.
Speaking at the function, WHO Representative to the Maldives Dr. Arvind Mathur said the organisation aims to establish a policy directed framework in Maldives that ensures blood is stored and distributed whenever needed.
This is the fifth blood donation camp organised by Alia Investments.
