Maldives has called to exert collective efforts to enhance ways to counter terrorism.
Terrorism and extremism are major threats faced by all countries, Director of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Brigadier General Zakariyya Mansoor highlighted addressing the fourth session at the High-level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies of Member States at the United Nations. In this regard, he called on to exert collective efforts to enhance counter-terrorism.
Moreover, Brigadier General Zakariyya Mansoor informed other delegates on efforts of Maldives to counter terrorism and violent extremism. Maldives strongly condemns terrorism and extremism assuring Maldives will always work to eliminate terrorism, reiterated Zakariyya Mansoor.
Even prior to the establishment of NCTC, national efforts to counter terrorism and counter violent extremism were underway in Maldives. NCTC was established by a presidential decree in 2016.
