President inaugurates Kanditheemu harbour

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has inaugurated the harbour of Kanditheemu in Shaviyani atoll, as part of a current visit to some islands in the atoll. The harbour of Kanditheemu inaugurated is 715 feet long and 300 feet wide.
Speaking at the function held in the island, President Yameen highlighted that Maldives can only achieve its aspirations by establishing and carrying forward a youth population which are ambitious and talented. Noting that during the next term importance will be given to all development and infrastructure development projects rather than focusing on harbour development, water and sewerage projects or road development projects, the President stated that it is crucial for the youth to be technology friendly in order to make the best use of the developments brought to the country. The first step towards ensuring a youth population which are technology friendly is digitalising the school system of the Maldives, noted the President.
Speaking on the major development projects undertaken by the administration, the President stated the need to have a vision for future development endeavours, in order to achieve the country's aspirations. In this regard, President Yameen highlighted the development of airports across country, emphasising that with the new economic vision those projects are helping to expand tourism industry to all parts of the country.
Velana International Airport development project will be followed by the development of an International seaport, revealed President.
