Foreign minister departs to attend Turkish presidential inauguration ceremony

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim has departed on an official visit to Turkey, to attend the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The Ceremony is scheduled to be held on 9 July 2018, in Ankara. Foreign Minister Asim is attending the Ceremony as the Special Envoy of the President of the Maldives, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. Minister Asim is accompanied by the Desk Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Shujau,.
The Maldives and Turkey has a long history of close relations and 28 May 2018 marked the 39th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
