Avid College introduces postgraduate programme in special education

Avid College officially has launched Master of Teaching in Inclusive and Special Education programme in Maldives. The postgraduate programme was officially inaugurated by Minister of Gender and Family Zeneesha Shaheed Zaki.
Maldives need more individuals to be actively engaged in working for the protection and promotion of rights of persons with disabilities, gender minister Zeneesha stated addressing the ceremony after launching the programme. The government has embarked on several initiatives to increase practical participation of the society in promoting the rights of persons with disabilities, the gender minister highlighted.
Speaking regarding the programme, Vice Rector of Avid College Dr. Abdulla Rasheed Ahmed stated teachers will be familiarised on researching mostly on special needs area, as part of the programme.
Avid College introduced the programme in its effort to produce better and teachers qualified for special education. The programme is designed to help participants develop skills, knowledge and values needed to specialise in teaching children with special education needs or to qualify for appointments as leaders, consultants and resources personnel in special education, according to Avid College.
The institute revealed interested individuals for the Master of Teaching in Inclusive and Special Education programme can apply for the September intake.
