Kulhuduffushi Regional Hospital to be developed up to tertiary standards

Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim has revealed that Kulhuduhfushi Regional Hospital is being developed up to tertiary standards with the funding provided from the state.
Health minister Abdulla Nazim said from the funds provided from the state, the hospital will be equipped with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines and Computed Tomography (CT) machines. The government of Maldives pledged to invest USD 3.19 million for the development of Kulhuduhfushi Regional Hospital. The development and the operation of the hospital was formerly handed to Nizam's Institute of Medical Science (NIMS) hospital before the ministry took over following a rift between local and international partners.
A medical director and a nursing director has also been appointed to the hospital, according to the health minister. Furthermore, minister Nazim said 4 more specialist doctors will be employed by the hospital and the services of the cardiac centre and the renal fertility centre of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) will also be provided for patients in Kulhuduffushi before the end of the month.
The 50 bed Kulhuduhfushi Regional Hospital currently employs 12 specialist doctors.
