President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has reiterated that his aim in competing in the next Presidential elections is to bring development to the country, carry forward good Maldivian principles and to sustain Islamic faith in the Maldives.
Addressing the ceremony held to inaugurate the sewerage facilities in Nolhivaram Island in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, President Abdulla Yameen highlighted that Maldivians will be able to maintain peace and harmony only by staying true to the principles we believe in and emphasised that no foreigner will prioritise the well-being more than the citizens.
In this regard, President Yameen urged the public not to let any foreign parties to intrude in the domestic affairs of the Maldives. Furthermore, President Yameen stated the administration was determined to achieve its developmental aspirations. The administration is keen to fulfil the needs of the Maldivian people, the President stated.
Shedding light on the developmental projects carried out in the country, President Yameen stated that in the attempt to expand the tourism sector in the country, this administration plans on adding 3000 beds in Haa Alifu and Haa Dhaalu Atolls alone, during the next term of Presidency.
Moreover, President Yameen inaugurated the sewerage facilities in Nolhivaram Island in Haa Dhaalu Atoll. During the ceremony, the President unveiled the monument placed to inaugurate the services of this project.
The developments brought to the island within the past four years are visible and that this government has proven that development can be brought equally to all islands, Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim stated speaking at the ceremony.
The establishment of this project was carried out by Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC). The project includes laying down sewerage pipes, establishing sewerage pump station and sea outfall system. The project will ensure the people of Nolhivaram enjoy the benefits of a safe sanitation facility. The government spent over USD 4.8 million for the establishment of sewerage system in Nolhivaram Island.
