President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has urged not to slander the country as it will cause irrevocable damages to the country and its people. Such actions are damaging to the country and the people are unfair in all manners, President Abdulla Yameen stated speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate the sewerage facilities in Hanimaadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
President Yameen underscored the economic drawbacks being faced by the country, as a result of such unjust actions, reiterating current administration's commitment to upholding democratic values, in a way that does not contradict the country's rule of law or the Islamic principles. Concluding the speech, the President conveyed his aspirations for the Maldives to maintain its peace and harmony, as we reach new heights in sustainable development, noting that all Maldivians shared this common dream for a better future for the country.
During the visit to Hanimaadhoo Island, President Yameen inaugurated the sewerage facilities in the island. During the ceremony, the President unveiled the monument placed to inaugurate the services of this project.
Under the project, a sewerage system of 16.6 kilometres was established with three pump stations and established a 300 metre sea outfall system. The project contracted to Fenaka Corporation Limited was completed in June last year. The project would provide sufficient sanitation facilities for the people of Hanimaadhoo.
