Elections Commission of Maldives has opened opportunity to file candidacy for the upcoming presidential election. All necessary documents must be submitted to the commission before August 4, according to the electoral body.
To submit the nominations, the candidates have to fill various paper works, including police record forms and financial record forms. In addition, information of official election agents of the candidates and details on the official auditor for the election must be submitted with the candidacy nomination documents.
Moreover, an administrative fee must be paid to run for the presidency and if filing as an independent candidate, an official document with signatures from 15,000 people aged 18 and above should be submitted.
The presidential election is scheduled to be held on September 23.
